DC-CAP tasked VA with creating an enhanced web-based solution for tracking student contact information, participation in DC-CAP activities, contact with DC-CAP advisors, college applications and visits, financial aid information, student GPA history, etc. The information input into the database is utilized to compute eligibility for the DC-CAP Last Dollar Award, as well as to generate award letters.

The District of Columbia College Access Program (DC-CAP) is a privately funded nonprofit organization established in 1999. DC-CAP is dedicated to encouraging and enabling DC public and public charter high school students to enroll in and graduate from college.

Improved Student Tracking Ensures Award Qualification

VA delivered a robust web-based solution to allow DC-CAP to track all student-related aspects of the Last Dollar Award program. The system uses a role-based hierarchy to enable various admin access levels, in particular the ability for certain key users to modify template information without needing assistance from a programmer. The system integrates with 3rd party tools including DC-CAP’s online analytical processing tool. There is an enhanced ability for data collection, as the solution needs to link to the DC-CAP website, from which data is uploaded by students. Data is then imported from the website to enhance DC-CAP’s ability to process student information, as well as obtain it from the students in a timely and efficient manner. The solution also tracks issues as recorded by users, enhancing the understanding of issues as they arise.
